Ethias’ history of sustainability

Ethias is clearly not starting from scratch when it comes to sustainability: Corporate Social Responsibility (or CSR) has always been part of its DNA.

The adventure really began in 2003, with the creation of a joint ethics committee. Over the years, many initiatives and actions have been successfully carried out. They helped Ethias becoming recognized and appreciated for its social commitment.

2003

  • Creation of the joint ethics committee
  • Ethias supports fair trade through Fairtrade@work!

2005

  • Ethical investment code, reviewed each year

2006

  • Diversity Charter
  • 1st societal report

2007

  • Equality-Diversity certification

2008

  • First measuring of our carbon footprint and implementation of an action plan

2009

  • Anysurfer certification for Ethias.be (for visually impaired people)
  • Creation of a CSR task force

2013

  • Top skills: training sessions for women on assertiveness and self-confidence

2014

  • Entry into the United Nations Global Compact
  • ISAE 3000 Certification for ethical financial management (Asset Management)

2015

  • Certification ISAE 3,000 in terms of environmental performances (CO2 emissions management)

2016

  • 1st Vélo Actif certification, renewed each year! 
  • Launch of Green Movement campaign

2017

  • 1st non-financial report

2019

  • Planting of 3,000 mangrove seedlings in Benin
  • Women in Finance charter signed by CEO Philippe Lallemand
  • CEASE charter signature
  • CEO Philippe Lallemand took part in the "Sign for my future" campaign
  • Insurance trophy for our non-financial report

2020

  • Insurance Award for all our citizenship initiatives during the pandemic and our structured assistance plan
  • Ongoing collaboration with DigitalForYouth against digital exclusion
  • Subscription to the "Green Deal Circular Procurement”
  • Launch of our Change Over plan
  • Participation in the Zambia CO2 offset scheme
